The first time I saw Sandringham was when I was in Year 6 and walking around choosing which secondary school I wanted to go to. As soon as I got to Sandringham on open Evening, and sat in the SandPit listening to Mr Gray, I knew that this was the school for me. He spoke about all the opportunities that would be available to us at Sandringham and I really enjoyed watching the dance display and listening to the fabulous singers. On the tour around the school, we had a really friendly guide who showed us everything - it seemed huge, but had everything a perfect school would need.
When we go the letter telling us which school I was going to, I was so pleased that it said I had got a place at Sandringham. I had to visit a few weeks later to find out who was in my tutor group and who my form tutor was going to be. When I found out who I was with I was really happy as I knew a few people, although it was great that I was going to be meeting lots of new people from different schools.
It finally came to Induction Day and I was very nervous. Firstly we met all the people in our tutor group and played lots of games to get to know each other. We then had two lessons after break to get us to experience what the lessons are like. Then we went and had something to eat. We had already signed up for a lunch club and there were so many different options. I went for softball as I love playing sport. Finally we had an assembly as a year group. So the day was perfect, there was no reason for me to be nervous at all!
When we came back for the first day of school, I was more confident this time. We go our timetables to see when we had each subject and which teacher we had. Then after break we started our normal subjects and, thankfully, we were not given much homework at all. The school sensibly stagger the amount of homework you get in Year 7 gradually so you get used to it as it is such a change from primary school.
I had settled into Sandringham now and before you know it you are off to the Peak District. It is amazing! The first day you go to a wildlife park and answer questions on a booklet. Then you arrive at where you are staying and go to your room and get used to the fantastic building. The next day you have a big eight mile walk and you also go up Thorpe Cloud. This isn't as bad as it seems as you get to talk to your friends and it is a great achievement when you have finished. There are also great views. On the last day we went to the amazing Alton Towers and spent the whole day with our friends going on rides!! This was one of the best school trips I have ever been on in my life. You also get to meet other people in different tutor groups in your half and make even more friends.
Sandringham is a superb school and you will love being here, learning and experiencing lots of different challenges you haven't done before.
