Sandringham has had an Eco-Schools group running since September 2005, and has begun to implement a range of strategies across the school to reduce waste and increase recycling (for example).
Sandringham's Eco-Schools group meets weekly to discuss environmental issues that affect the school.
Eco-schools provides different areas to develop:
- Waste minimisation
- Energy
- Water
- Transport
- Healthy living
Previously the group has set up some very successful recycling projects. The recycling of paper has become routine in all classrooms, with thanks to the green boxes. Recycling of printer cartridges and old mobile phones has also been set up through recycool and this is helping us to raise money as well as fulfilling our recycling aims.
New members are always welcome to join in the discussion and help to make Sandringham school a more eco-friendly community.
