Our students performed exceptionally well once again this summer, with outstanding results at GCSE and A-level. At GCSE, 76% of students achieved a level 5 or higher in both English and mathematics with a Progress 8 measure of +0.84. You can view performance data for Hertfordshire schools here. This demonstrates that attainment and progress were significantly higher than Hertfordshire and national averages and will place the school in the 100 top performing non-selective schools in England. Results at A-level were similarly impressive with 42% of all grades achieved being A* – A and a value-added ALPS score of 2, placing the school in the top 10% of all schools in the country. *** LATEST NEWS*** Consultation on new admission criteria for 2019 – 2020.
In consultation with Hertfordshire LA the Governing Body of Sandringham School has consulted the community on a change to admission rules for secondary transfer 2019 onwards. This consultation closed on 18th December 2017. For 2017 and 2018 admission, the school temporarily increased its published admission number (PAN) to 240 to provide additional spaces for children living in the parish of Wheathampstead and the parish of Harpenden. This was to accommodate the high demographics to the North of St. Albans until the new Harpenden School opens. We propose to reduce our PAN to the previous level of 210 and remove the option for admission of children from Wheathampstead and Harpenden through the random allocation process. As a consequence, all places not offered to through rules 1 – 4 will be allocated to children nearest the school. Your views have been received and will be considered by the admissions committee who will then make recommendations to the full governing body on 7th February 2018. The governing body will determine admission arrangements for 2019 onwards at this meeting.
