This week marks the start of Artsweek 2017 – a celebration of arts experiences across the whole school. Activities include the Summer Concert on Monday evening, the Inspire Dance Show on Tuesday evening in the Sandpit Theatre and the very popular Art Exhibition which showcases examination work from across all key stages and examination submission. Look out each day for Digital Theatre plus showings in different venues around the school and challenge yourself in the creative writing tent.
We are delighted to welcome the Rambert Ballet Company and dancers from Hairspray for professional West End Dance workshops alongside workshops led by professional composer Ewan Campbell and artist Laura Ellis. Students will be participating in a wealth of activities including outdoor art projects creating large scale works inspired Jackson Pollock and Andy Goldsworthy, pavement art and creating Calder inspired sculptures. The Drama department are hosting Showtime outdoor performances and working with the Pauline Quirke Academy in a range of workshops. Students can also take part in the week-long House Scriptwriting challenge or try their hand at mastering stage make up. Look out for all our outdoor performers; buskers will be performing around the school campus and Tuxedo will be leading an outdoor workshop encouraging peers to give it a go! The Future DJs roadshow will also be visiting us on Friday lunchtime and entertaining the students in an outdoor demonstration and workshop.
Come along and get involved in our annual celebration of all things Arts! #Artsweek17
