The Memory Project – See the children receive their portraits

At Sandringham School, the Visual Arts Faculty has been involved with the Memory Project for several years now.  The Memory Project is a US based charity that invites art students to create portraits for young people around the world who have faced substantial difficulties and challenges such as violence, extreme poverty, neglect and loss of parents and family.

This year our year 12 students each created a portrait for a child in Syria and raised money to enable these to be delivered directly to the children by one of the charity workers.  We have now received a video that shows the children receiving portraits from our students and students from other schools.  You can see from the reaction of the children how much receiving these portraits means to them and we are very proud to be involved with this project.
