Extended Learning Days (ELDs) & Enrichment Week (E-week)

Throughout the year, students at Sandringham have opportunities to work together as year groups outside of normal lessons. A core part of this provision are the Extended Learning Days spread throughout the school year and the annual Enrichment week that takes place every June. Activities that take place on these days are planned to allow students to extend their learning beyond the classroom delivered by our subject teams as well as develop their own wider skills as part of our focus on Personal Development. Provision is reviewed annually.

There are currently 5 ELDs throughout the year. Each day sees a separate activity for each year group; these range from theme days linked to aspects of personal development such as careers, RSE and team building opportunities to curriculum related field trips to museums and local areas of interest through to an extended focus on aspects of careers education, creating a ‘Musical in a day’ and a joint PE/Technology day.

E-week takes place in June and is a week of activities that offer opportunities for supporting community cohesion, focusing on the personal development of students and allowing staff and students to work together on fun and exciting activities. In 2024/25, there will be a programme of day trips and in-school activities for students in Year 7, as well as residential opportunities for Year 8 and Year 9. Year 10 students complete a week of work experience while Year 12 students will undertake end of year exams. Year 11 and 13 students will be sitting external examinations.
